Overview:

The Aadarsh Institute of Pharmaceutical Science & Research Center was established in the year 2021 under the management of Panchakshari Shivacharya Trust, Aloor, with permission from the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi, and the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Maharashtra, Mumbai. The institute started the Integrated Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm.) course affiliated with the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education, Mumbai.

The Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm.) program is a professional program that prepares students for career as pharmacists. It typically takes Two years to complete and requires a strong foundation in the sciences such as biology, chemistry, physiology, and anatomy. The curriculum includes coursework in pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, therapeutics, pharmacy law and ethics, patient care, healthcare systems, and public health.

D. Pharm. Pass out have a wide range of career options, including Government pharmacist, retail pharmacist, Medical representative, industry, Academic etc. They can also pursue higher education that B. Pharmacy, Pharma. D.

D. Pharm. Course provide the knowledge of healthcare and biochemical science to the students. Students interested in pharmacy-related positions in healthcare and drug industry can pursue this course. To be eligible for admission into a D. Pharm. program, candidates must have completed the 10+2 Science Stream and meet the program-specific requirements.

Objectives

The main objectives of D. Pharm course are:

• To develop pharmacists to contribute effectively in the social health care system
• To integrate pharmacy knowledge and skills with a fringe of self motivation so as to increase inclination for higher studies and research.
• To inculcate leadership and entrepreneurship capabilities in future pharmacist.
• To provide experience and hands-on-training with state-of-the-art infrastructure and highly qualified teaching faculty.
• To inspire students to pursue higher education and to appear for competitive exams and other value added programmes for their holistic development.

Programme Outcomes (PO) for D. Pharm Course

1. Pharmacy Knowledge: Possess knowledge and comprehension of the core and basic knowledge associated with the profession of pharmacy.
2. Modern tool usage: Learn, select, and apply appropriate methods and procedures, resources, and modern pharmacy-related computing tools with an understanding of the limitations.
3. Leadership skills: Understand and consider the human reaction to change, motivation issues, leadership and team-building when planning changes required for fulfillment of practice, professional and societal responsibilities. Assume participatory roles as responsible citizens or leadership roles when appropriate to facilitate improvement in health and wellbeing.
4. Professional Identity: Understand, analyze and communicate the value of their professional roles in society (e.g. health care professionals, promoters of health, educators, managers, employers, employees).
5. Pharmaceutical Ethics: Honor personal values and apply ethical principles in professional and social contexts. Demonstrate behavior that recognizes cultural and personal variability in values, communication and lifestyles. Use ethical frameworks; apply ethical principles while making decisions and take responsibility for the outcomes associated with the decisions.
6. Communication: Communicate effectively with the pharmacy community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports, make effective presentations and documentation, and give and receive clear instructions.
7. The Pharmacist and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety and legal issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional pharmacy practice.
8. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional pharmacy solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
